Logging N1MM+

N1MM Logger+ - A popular program that has been configured for many different contest events. W4AXO assembled a draft User Defined Contest (UDC) file which I edited and tested with the current version of N1MM+. It accepts the received contact exchange, presents a live log display and can generate a Cabrillo file. The companion SEC file enables checking of the entered chapter number.

The New Log window has a box with placeholder entries "Chapt Name". Enter your Chapter Number, a space, and your Name. This will allow your chapter number and your name to appear on each line of a generated Cabrillo log. The chapter number is the only required exchange. A signal report is customary, but not required and not recordable in this log.

The default contact mode choices are CW and Phone. The most recent testing and edits to the UDC file indicate that it computes the correct score for those 2 modes in agreement with the rules. I learned that the program mode can be set to SSB+CW+DIGITAL. This results in a display of 4 columns: CW, PH, RTTY and PSK. I was able to enter test contacts for CW and Phone, but once I entered the first digital contact (RTTY or PSK), the program would no longer allow entry of Phone contacts, and any contacts selected to CW end up logging as PSK or RTTY! Unless someone can explain how to resolve this, I recommend logging digital contacts separately from CW and Phone, to get proper score credit as illustrated on the Summary Sheet.

N1MM+ can export a handy Score Summary table that can be used to fill in the TPQSO summary sheet. It is in the drop-down menu at the Window menu bar entry.

In 2021 I received an improved version of the CQTP.udc file from G4OGB. Les added a comment field where you can enter "tp" to mark the contacts for which you explained Telephone Pioneers to a non-Pioneer participant. This change enables you to identify the contacts for which bonus points can be added (to the total QSO points) as shown on the summary sheet.

The ZIP file below contains the 3 files you need:

Download CQTP.zip and extract its contents to a convenient location. Move each file to its assigned folder as follows:

Be sure to restart the program after you put the above files in place.

Look for the entry CQTP in the left-hand column of the Contest Type list.

The optional call history file CQTP-285.txt can fill the boxes for chapter and name of the station whose callsign you enter. Use this only as a guide, and enter the data you copy, which may differ from the history file, such as if a chapter number has changed.
