TPQSO Rules

We cordially invite all Telephone Pioneers (TelecomPioneers) Amateur Radio Operators in the United States and Canada to participate in contacting as many members in as many chapters as possible, including members of the United States Telephone Pioneer Association.

Phone Users: Call CQ Telephone Pioneers.
CW and digital modes: Call "CQ TP".

SCORING:

Each mode is scored separately. Each DIGITAL or CW or PHONE QSO is worth one contact point. Only one multiplier may be taken for each chapter worked on each mode. The total score for a mode equals the number of QSOs (contacts) times the number of chapters worked in that mode. See the Summary Sheet.

The total QSO points equal:
the QSO total (i.e. Digital, CW and Phone QSOs added together)
multiplied by
the Chapter total (Digital, CW and Phone Chapters added together).
See the Summary Sheet. Only one multiplier may be taken for each chapter worked on each mode.

You may contact the same station on different bands. You may also contact the same station in your own chapter on different bands.

EXCHANGE:

The exchange is the chapter number. You may give a signal report, followed by the chapter number, then your name. The exchange does not require a signal report and name, but they are customary.

For example: W4BXI DE N6TP 599 138 JIM K

If you contact a non-pioneer, give him or her your contact information. Then enter 0 in the chapter number field. This will give you an extra multiplier. There is only one multiplier for non-pioneer contacts. The non-pioneer contact will be part of your QSO total.

Non-Pioneers can contact only Telephone Pioneers.

Occasionally, we will be asked "What is a Pioneer?" We will award a 10-point bonus for each time you explain what a Telephone Pioneer is. A good source of brief information is the page About Pioneers. On the same page is a link to a very nice Pioneers Timeline.

The maximum bonus will be 100 points. Use the Summary Sheet to list the calls, to claim the bonus points. Only Telephone Pioneers can claim the bonus points. The Final Score equals the QSO points plus the Bonus points.
